Fall breeze and autumn leaves, but it's no time to ease up on your lawn and garden duties! Our latest blog reveals what you should be doing to maintain healthy and green gardens and lawns all year long!
As the weather cools down, being out in the backyard in autumn is a really pleasant experience. And it’s much easier on the body to tend to the garden and maintain your lawn with a little less of that summer heat!
You might think with the weather cooling down, you can put the brakes on lawn and garden maintenance, but good maintenance throughout this time is key to keep your lawn and gardens looking beautiful and in tip top condition for the backyard cricket season next summer!
Autumn offers an ideal time to ensure your lawns and gardens are in good health and have enough nutrients to maximise the next growing season.
Snip, snip
Autumn is the perfect time to do some pruning - tidying your plants, cutting back vines and removing dead wood. Pruning is important to remove dead parts of the plant – keeping them looking good and in a nice shape – but it also encourages new growth in the forthcoming spring season. Remember, don’t prune your plants by more than a third.
Starting a fresh
If you’re thinking about growing anything new in your garden, this time of year is ideal for ensuring new plants establish good root growth Planting fruits and flowers now will mean you’ll be in for a colourful and stunning display come spring. Feed for green
Autumn is also a great time to feed your lawn, depending on what nutrients it needs. Fertilising your lawn will ensure it stays green and healthy throughout the year and will help protect your lawn from the cold during the winter months.

Give your soil some love

Autumn is a great time to start growing some cooler season veggies such as spinach, beetroots, carrots, onion, cauliflower and spring onions. Hardy herbs like rosemary, thyme and sage are also great and will be a wonderful addition to your autumn and winter menu.
Quick turnover Asian greens (such as bok choy) are also great to plant, as they can be grown at any time of year, particularly in warmer climates such as Queensland. Grow it from the seed and prepare for a bounty to add to hearty stirfrys and broth-like dishes such as ramen.
You might think that autumn means growing season is coming to an end, but there is an abundance of produce to sow and reap in these cooler months.
